Khajjiar


Khajjiar is a hill station in Chamba district, Himachal Pradesh, India, located approximately 24 kilometers (15 mi) from Dalhousie. It is a very beautiful place in India to visit at least once in a lifetime.

Khajjiar sits on a small plateau with a small stream-fed lake in the middle that has been covered over with grass. The hill station is surrounded by deodar trees. It is about 2,000 meters above sea level in the foothills of the Dhauladhar ranges of the Western Himalayas and peaks can be seen in the distance. It is part of the  Khajjiar Sanctuary.

Khajjiar can be reached from Dalhousie, the nearest major town and hill station, by bus in an hour or so. It has a rare combination of three ecosystems: lake, pasture, and forest. It is called "Mini Switzerland of India" on 7 July 1992, Swiss Envoy Willy P. Blazer, Vice Counselor and Head of Chancery of Switzerland in India brought Khajjiar on the world tourism map.

                   

The accommodation is not a big issue in Khajjiar, there are hotels and cottages run Himachal Pradesh tourism service where anyone can stays, but it will also good check availability before going. Mainly rooms are available in the off-season but pre-booking is required in the main season. You can check the link for the availability of rooms. Other than this, there are two departmental rest houses are also present (P.W.D AND FOREST DEPARTMENT REST HOUSES), you can also stay there, but I think permission is required. A couple of private hotels have also come up, which do not match the above places in terms of location and amenities.

Most tourists travel to Khajjiar by private or rented vehicles. Bus service to and from Khajjiar is limited and timing changes according to local demands.

In my opinion, you should combine your Khajjiar trip with other places also like Dalhousie, Macloedganj, and Dharamsala, etc.Anyone can enjoy different kinds of sport in khajjiar  for example Paragliding, Horse riding etc. It is mainly famous for its natural beauty and scenery, which attracts photographers to click some beautiful pictures. Some of  the worlds recognize pictures are clicked in Khajjiar by famous photographers in the world.

 

                   

In the winter season, the beauty of this place is incredible. The green grassland turns into a white bed sheet of snow, trees are also covered in snow, the beauty of these places touches the level of heaven.

Please travel in your lifetime to different places to explore and learn different types of the lesson by these places trying to teach.
